Police detectives interview victims, suspects and witnesses, prepare and execute search or arrest warrants, conduct surveillance, gather evidence, process crime scenes, interact with attorneys and judges, testify in court and secure property and evidence. Federal cases are prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office. Felony cases are handled by the Hennepin County Attorney's Office. Misdemeanor cases are prosecuted by the law firm of Thomsen and Nybeck.
The Airport Narcotics Unit is part of the DEA Transportation Task Force. The unit's detectives are deputized to investigate federal drug offenses. Three K-9 teams assist with the interdiction efforts at MSP's two passenger terminals and small parcel facilities.
