1.    What time does the airport open?

MSP is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. The security checkpoints and ticket counters open at various times. Please check with your specific airline or call the airport's general information line at 612-726-5555 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., every day of the year.1.    

2.    What terminal do I need to go to?

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport has two full-service terminals: the Lindbergh Terminal and the Humphrey Terminal.  Your airline ticket may abbreviate the name, listing Terminal L for Lindbergh Terminal and Terminal H for Humphrey Terminal. Covered parking is available at both terminals. To determine which terminal your flight will arrive at or depart from, please visit our Passenger Airlines page for a complete list of the airlines serving each terminal.  

3.    Can I smoke in the terminal buildings?

Both terminal buildings are smoke-free facilities. All smoking must take place outdoors. At the Lindbergh Terminal look for smoking shelters outside Doors 1, 3 and 6 on the Ticketing Level. Smoking is also allowed outside on the Baggage Claim Level and in the parking ramps. At the Humphrey Terminal smoking is allowed at curbside, at least 30 feet from any door, and in the parking ramps.

4.    What can I bring on the plane/through security?

Current restrictions can be found at the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) web site at www.tsa.gov. Or call the TSA information line toll-free at 866-289-9673.

5.    What are the size and weight limits for carry-on luggage?

The standard carry-on size is 45 total inches, measuring width, depth and length, and adding them together. Please check with your airline, as they may have stricter carry-on luggage policies. Passengers are generally allowed one peice of luggage and one smaller item, such as a purse, laptop bag or briefcase.

6.    How do I meet an unaccompanied minor?

Non-ticketed individuals may request a pass from the airline in order to escort an unaccompanied minor to their gate. Please check with the individual airline for the appropriate procedure. It's best to register the child as an "unaccompanied minor" before the day of travel.

7.    If I lost something while traveling through MSP, who can I call to determine if it has been turned in?

For items lost inside the MSP facilities, call the airport's lost and found office at 612-726-5141, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For items lost at a TSA checkpoint, call the TSA lost and found line at 612-725-3998, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For items lost on an aircraft, contact the airport's general information line at 612-726-5555, 8 a.m. through 10 p.m., 7 days a week, for the local airline lost and found office phone numebers.

8.    How long does it take to clear customs? Where do I meet passengers arriving on an international flight?

It takes approximately 30 minutes to clear customs at MSP. International passengers exit the glass doors at the far end of the Baggage Claim Level near carousel #2.

9.    Where is the airport Post Office?

The Airport Mail Center (AMC) is not located within MSP's facilities. The AMC is open 24 hours per day and is located at 5001 Northwest Drive, St. Paul, MN 55111. For more information, call 612-970-7643.
